OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- Nancy Thompson, a 17-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, was named Director of the OKDHS office serving eastern and central Oklahoma County, located at 2821 N.W. 50th St.
“We’re very excited to have Nancy joining our Oklahoma County Directors team,” said Debbie Sexton, Area III Director. “Nancy is a quality person who has great care and concern for both the people she serves and the people she works with.”
Thompson began her career with OKDHS as a youth guidance specialist at the Pauline Mayer Shelter in Oklahoma City. She later moved to Texas where she taught school for five years before moving back to Oklahoma where she worked for Sunbeam Family Services.
Thompson then came back to OKDHS as a social worker in Oklahoma County before serving as a social services supervisor. Prior to being named County Director, Thompson served as the assistant county director at the OKDHS office in Bethany.
“This will be a big challenge, but it’s one I’m looking forward to,” said Thompson. “This office has a high standard of service and I will give 110 percent to the clients, staff and community to maintain that standard.”
Thompson graduated from Choctaw High School and received her bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond.
Thompson’s husband of five years, Darren, works as a social worker at the OKDHS Capitol Hill office in Oklahoma City.
