OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- Karen Moses, a 29-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Service, and Director of the OKDHS Human Services Center in Kiowa County, will now pull double-duty when she takes over administration of the OKDHS in Washita County.
“Karen is a solid leader with years of experience in public service,” said Debbie Williams, OKDHS Area II Director. “She really cares about the people and communities in western Oklahoma and I know she’ll help the Washita County staff continue their tradition of quality public service.”

Moses began her career with OKDHS as a social worker before serving as a social services specialist. Prior to joining the department, Moses worked as a reporter for The Hobart Democrat-Chief before teaching English and Journalism at Hobart High School. Moses has served as director of the Human Services Center in Kiowa County since October 2001.

“It’s been surprising to learn how differently things are done from county to county,” said Moses. “The staff in Washita County are dedicated, hardworking people who do a great job. I look forward to working with them to serve the people of Washita County.”

Moses graduated from Edmond High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond. Moses serves as a representative to the OKDHS Area II County Administrator’s Association Board. She is also an active member of the Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce.

When she’s not working or traveling between counties, Moses and her husband, Max, who runs the family’s wheat, cotton and cattle farm in Greer County, spend time with their grandchildren Nancy, 4, and Katie, 6 weeks old.
