OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- For the fifth straight year, child support collections have increased in Oklahoma. In 2001 more than $133 million in child support was collected, an increase of nine percent from the previous year.
"The increased collections, particularly those through income assignment and the Financial Institution Data Match, were due to the efforts of employees dedicated to our mission of enforcing the financial responsibility of parents to their children," said Ray Weaver, Director, Oklahoma Department of Human Services Child Support Enforcement Division. "We pursue, and will continue to pursue, all avenues open to us in trying to fulfill our mission."
Approximately 60 percent of child support collections come from direct income assignments of wages. Other sources of collection include voluntary payment, liens on state and federal tax refunds and workers’ compensation awards, outside collection agencies, unemployment compensation and bank account liens through the Financial Institution Data Match program.
