OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- Amy Whitson, a 12-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, has been named Area I Administrative Field Liaison.
"Amy will be an excellent resource for Area I County Directors and an effective liaison with all state office staff," said Brenda Hawkins, Area I Director. "We’re all looking forward to working with Amy in her new role with the Area I team."
Whitson began her OKDHS career as a child welfare worker in Beckham and Roger Mills counties. She later served as a family support worker in Custer County before becoming a family support supervisor for both Custer and Dewey counties. Before accepting this new position, Whitson was serving as a family support field liaison for Area I.
"I am very pleased to have been selected for this position," said Whitson. "My ultimate goal is to improve the lives of our customers and I feel I can do that by helping to ensure quality services from each of our county offices. I plan on giving my full support to the County Directors of Area I in all program areas."
Whitson graduated from Merritt High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford.
Whitson’s husband of 11 years, Mel, operates his own oilfield company. They have two sons, Blane, 7, and Jay, 4.
