Nominations Sought For Achievements in Aging Awards

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- Nominations are now being sought for the 2002 Achievements in Aging Awards to be presented during the annual Oklahoma Conference on Aging in May. The awards will recognize individuals, educators, advocates, media representatives, programs, businesses or corporations making outstanding contributions on behalf of older Oklahomans.
Awards will be presented for outstanding contributions by:

• A volunteer whose service on behalf of older Oklahomans has been outstanding and has been accomplished primarily as a volunteer, not as part of paid employment;
• A professional whose professional practice has made an outstanding contribution or service to older Oklahomans;
• A program, agency, organization or community group;
  An educator whose work in geriatric education or research had made a significant contribution;
• An individual or organization from the media that has made a significant contribution to providing information regarding issues, programs, services and whose efforts have contributed toward major reform or positive action;
• An individual whose advocacy has contributed to the well-being of the state’s older population for more than 15 years; and
• An individual age 60 or older whose personal advocacy efforts have been significant.
  Winners will be selected by a panel of involved citizens and community leaders. They will be honored during an awards dinner on May 7 during the Oklahoma Conference on Aging being held at the National Center for Employee Development/Marriott Conference Center, Norman.
  
  

The deadline for submission of nominations is 5 p.m. April 17, 2002.
