OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Jim Struby, a 24-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS), was named Programs Administrator for the agency’s Family Support Division.
In his new position, Struby will oversee the Family Support Services Comprehensive Services, which include food stamps, Medicaid and childcare assistance.
"Jim’s years of experience make him a great addition to our team," said Mary Stalnaker, Director, OKDHS Family Support Services Division. "His vast knowledge of the field will be an asset to this division as we strive to keep both the needs of the client and the front line staff as our primary perspective."
Struby began his career with OKDHS as a social worker in Oklahoma County. He then served as a Social Worker Supervisor before becoming a Senior Supervisor. Struby later worked as a District Family Support Supervisor before serving as the Assistant County Director for the Oklahoma County OKDHS office located on North May Avenue.
"I’m excited about this opportunity to help provide useful information and creative solutions in support of social workers throughout the state in their efforts to improve the quality of life in their communities," said Struby.
Struby graduated from the Gunnery School in Washington, Conn., and earned a bachelor’s in Psychology from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas. In his spare time, Struby works as a volunteer for the Contact Crisis Helpline.
Struby’s wife of seven years, Shauna, is a free-lance writer. He has a stepson, Scott, 15 and a daughter, Callie, 5.
