OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- William Wilson, a 25-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS), has been named Area IV Director.
In his new position, Wilson will oversee the daily operations of OKDHS offices in 15 counties, including: Atoka, Bryan, Choctaw, Coal, Hughes, Johnston, Lincoln, McCurtain, Marshall, Okfuskee, Pittsburg, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha and Seminole.

"Bill has the experience, leadership and positive attitude that we need to fill this position," said Jean Derry, director, OKDHS Field Operations. "He was born, raised and educated in southeastern Oklahoma and I’m confident he will continue to provide quality services to the citizens of this area."

Wilson began his career with OKDHS when former OKDHS Director Lloyd E. Rader personally hired him to serve as a social worker in Coal County. He later served as a Social Services Supervisor before becoming Director of the Coal County OKDHS office. Wilson then went on to serve as the Area IV Administrative Liaison.

"As a third generation resident of Coal County, I want the folks in this area to know that I share their deep love for this part of the state and I am committed to the cause of helping our clients improve themselves," said Wilson. "I will also rely on all members of the Area IV team to bring their considerable assets to bear in order to make a difference for the area, the communities, our local offices and the clients we serve."

Wilson graduated from Coalgate High School and earned his bachelor’s in History and Geography from East Central University, Ada, Okla.

Wilson’s wife of 34 years, Jahree, works at the First National Bank in Coalgate. They have three children, Todd, 32, who works for AT&T in Washington, Joel, 28, who’s attending college and works for Nikon in Colorado, and Jana, 22, a senior at ECU. Wilson is also the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Faith, 2, and Gavin, 5 months old.
