Oklahoma Capitol -- Barbara Farris, a 25-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS), has been named Area IV Family Support Field Liaison.
"Barbara’s dedication to our clients and her enthusiasm are great assets to the Area IV family," said Alice Foran, Area IV Director. "I know she’ll do great things in her new position and raise the standard of service for the clients in Area IV."
Farris began her OKDHS career as a Family Support Eligibility Worker in Atoka County. She then moved to Coal County as a Social Services Worker. She later served as a Comprehensive Eligibility Worker before moving on to become a Programs Supervisor. Farris was the Family Support Quality Assurance Coordinator for Area IV before accepting her new position.
"I have always enjoyed my work," said Farris. "Just knowing that we make a difference makes working for OKDHS more than just a job, but a life choice and I hope to continue to foster this idea throughout Area IV."
Farris graduated from Stringtown High School and earned her bachelor’s in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.
Farris’s husband, James, works for the Department of Corrections in McAlester. They have three grown children, Lisa, 30, who’s a registered nurse, Jason, 27, who works in the construction industry and Nicole, 25, who operates a daycare home.
