Oklahoma Capitol---Connie Eggleston, a 19-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS), was one of three candidates selected by the Oklahoma Office of Personnel Management to serve as a mentor executive.
The State Mentor Program works to develop the executive potential of employees in all branches of state government with a special emphasis on women, minorities and individuals with disabilities. The program allows participants to become more experienced in public policy decision-making and better prepared to contribute to the fulfillment of their agency’s goals and mission.
"I was proud to nominate Connie for the State Mentor Program," said Roy Keen, OKDHS Aging Services Administrator. "Throughout her tenure with OKDHS, Connie has used her knowledge and skills to create avenues that enhance our programs and the lives of the elderly so that they can remain independently in their own homes with dignity."
Eggleston began her career with OKDHS as a Social Worker in Oklahoma County before joining the OKDHS Aging Services Division as a Specialist on Aging. She later served as a Planning Specialist before becoming a Programs Field Representative.
"I’m both honored and proud to have been selected to participate in such a prestigious program," said Eggleston. "This opportunity will allow me to broaden my knowledge and sharpen my leadership skills to better serve the citizens of this state."Eggleston graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master’s in Social Work Administration and graduated from the Oklahoma Certified Public Manager program in 1996. Through the years she has played a major role in writing proposals and developing programs to benefit the elderly and youth. Her writing has been published in The Southwestern, a journal dealing with aging issues.
Eggleston is expected to begin her two-year assignment as a mentor executive on July 1, 2000.
