OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Pam King, a 19-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, has been named Multi-County Adult Protective Services Supervisor for LeFlore and Latimer counties.
"Pam is a great person who is passionate about stopping the trend of adult abuse in Oklahoma," said Judy Ann Wyatt, Area V Director. "Her compassion and experience make her well equipped to deal with the challenges of this assignment."

Cases of adult abuse have increased steadily in the past five years from about 4,300 confirmed cases in 1995 to nearly 7,500 in 1999. Since January of this year, there have already been about 2,600 confirmed investigations of adult abuse in Oklahoma. Nearly 120 of these cases were in LeFlore and Latimer counties. Two out of three investigations are usually substantiated with some level of abuse, neglect or exploitation.

"I eagerly look forward to joining this vital area of services," said King. "To be truly effective, Adult Protective Services must be constantly improving. I will strive to make the clients aware of benefits they may receive, as well as the resources available to them within their communities."

During her OKDHS career King has held social worker assistant, social worker and social services supervisor positions.

King graduated from Clayton High School. She earned her associate degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College, Wilburton, and her bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from East Central University, Ada.
King served as president of the Oklahoma Family Support Services Supervisors Association from 1999 to 2000.

King’s husband, Don, works as a security officer for the Choctaw Nation. They have a grown son, Hershel, 32, who works for an environmental control company.
