OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --Two human services commissioners have recently taken on new leadership roles in overseeing the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
Governor Frank Keating appointed Steve Bailey, Bethany, chairman of the Oklahoma Commission for Human Services May 30. Keating first appointed Bailey to the Commission in August 1995. He has served as vice-chairman since Jan. 26, 1999.

Commissioner Bailey has been in the automobile business in Oklahoma for more than 30 years. He has been owner and president of Steve Bailey Honda in Bethany for more than 22 years and has operated dealerships in Yukon and Stillwater.

He has been chairman of the Oklahoma City Young Life Urban Committee and is currently chairman of the Oklahoma City Leadership Foundation.

Fellow commissioners elected Emilykaye Lonian, Esq., vice chairperson during the Commission’s regular meeting June 13 in Oklahoma City.

Governor Keating appointed Lonian to the Commission in March 1997 to fill an un-expired term. The practicing attorney, and former municipal judge, has served as chair of the commission’s committee on organizational structure and as a member of the policy review committee.

Bailey said he was pleased that the Governor thought he could fulfill the varied duties of human services chairman. "I am extremely pleased that our fellow commissioners choose to elect Emilykaye Lonian as vice chair.  I have worked closely with her for three years on a number of human services issues, especially children’s services, welfare reform and policy matters, and her service to the commission, the department and the state is exemplary."
