OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Sharon Walters, a 30-year veteran of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, has been named interim Director of the OKDHS Pittsburg County office in McAlester.
Walters will lead the staff in Pittsburg County during a time of transition following the passing of 23-year OKDHS employee and County Director Roger Hill.
"Sharon Walters will step in where Roger Hill left off," said Alice Foran, OKDHS Area IV Director. "They were best friends as well as co-workers and she will continue with his vision until another County Director is chosen."
Walters began her career with OKDHS in a clerical position. She then served as a social worker and later a TANF Supervisor before being promoted to Family Support Services Senior Supervisor.
"I will continue to support the staff and to serve the clients of Pittsburg County," said Walters.
According to Foran, the position will be filled by late February.
