District One Child Support Enforcement Transition Expected to Go Smoothly, Say Both Sides

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --The Child Support Enforcement office in Miami, which serves Ottawa and Delaware counties, will see no interruption in child support services during the upcoming January 17th transition to state management according to state and local officials.
"We are looking forward to working more closely with the folks in Ottawa and Delaware counties," said Ray Weaver, Division Administrator, Department of Human Services Child Support Enforcement Division. "The staff of the Miami office has consistently gone above and beyond in service to their clients and we fully expect that level of excellence to continue.

We are aware that times of change can be stressful and uncertain and we will be contacting the present staff to see what arrangements can be made within state laws and hiring practices to bring them on board."

In a letter to Weaver, District Attorney Thomas H. May wrote, "we will be happy to assist you in any way during the transition. As our child support staff has been number 1 and number 2 in the State of Oklahoma for child support collections, they are looking forward to the opportunity of working with you in continuing their excellent record."

In fiscal year 2000, the Miami office brought in more than $3 million in unpaid child support. It will be one of 10 child support enforcement offices across the state managed by OKDHS.
