Positively impacting lives and communities with the power of Hope

At Oklahoma Human Services, we serve Oklahomans at every stage of life, often during their most challenging moments. By integrating the Science of Hope into our policies and programs, we aim to empower individuals and families to overcome adversity and build brighter futures.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can have lifelong effects, increasing the risk of chronic health conditions, struggles in school or work, and even early death. But there’s good news: research shows that hope acts as a buffer, helping individuals develop resilience and thrive despite these challenges.

According to the Science of Hope, hope isn’t just wishful thinking—it’s a measurable and achievable framework. Hope is built through:

  • Goals: Creating short- and long-term goals that inspire and motivate.
  • Pathways: Identifying clear strategies to reach those goals.
  • Willpower: Harnessing the mental energy and determination to pursue them.

By embedding hope into our work, we aim to break cycles of adversity and open doors to opportunity for individuals and families across Oklahoma.

In 2024, Oklahoma Human Services became the nation’s first-ever Hope-Centered Organization, recognized by Dr. Chan Hellman. This honor reflects our multi-year strategy to create hope-centered, trauma-informed policies and practices that make a real difference in the lives of Oklahomans.
