Oklahoma State Emergency Operations Center

Update 9 p.m.

WILDFIRES IMPACTING STATE

The State Emergency Operations Center remains activated due to ongoing wildfire conditions and severe weather risk. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) is in contact with emergency managers across the state and coordinating with agencies and organizations including Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Oklahoma Forestry Services, Oklahoma Insurance Department, Oklahoma National Guard, the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, National Weather Service, Tribal Nations, Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, and others.

FIRE REPORTS

Cimarron County Emergency Management reports county fire departments continue to work with Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) on the Black Mesa Trail Fire, which originated in Colorado and burned into Oklahoma, and the Sharpe Fire. A Strike Team from Grady County assisted OFS on the Sharpe Fire while a Strike Team from Logan County and three fire departments from Texas County supported OFS on the Black Mesa Trail Fire.

The Grady County Strike Team includes personnel and trucks from Naples, Friend, Alex, Minco, Acme, Bailey, Ninnekah, and Grady County Command. Logan County Strike Team includes personnel and trucks from Crescent, Coyle, Sooner, and Cashion. Texas County Fire Departments responding include Texhoma Command, Yarbrough, & Hough. A Washington County Strike Team is positioned in Woodward County. The team includes personnel and trucks from Copan, Dewey, Ochelata, Washington County Fire Department, and Washington County Emergency Management.

Additional fires were reported in Grant and Texas counties.

STATE SUPPORT

Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) continues to work fires in Cimarron county. OFS has multiple suppression groups working or staged in western Oklahoma, including in Beaver, Cimarron, Beckham, and Woodward counties.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Oklahoma Department of Transportation supported a road closure and traffic control for Highway 60 in Major County due to downed powerlines caused by high winds.

Regional personnel from Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management have been deployed to the panhandle since Saturday, May 16 to provide operations support and assistance.

The State EOC is monitoring weather conditions Monday evening and is prepared to support any resource requests from jurisdictions if needed.
