WILDFIRES IMPACTING STATE

The State Emergency Operations Center remains activated due to ongoing wildfires and straight-line winds. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) is in contact with emergency managers across the state and coordinating with agencies and organizations including Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Oklahoma Forestry Services, Oklahoma Insurance Department, Oklahoma National Guard, the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, National Weather Service, Tribal Nations, Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, and others.

FIRE MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT SECURED

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the state’s request for two Fire Management Assistance Grants (FMAGs) this evening:

  • Dibble Creek Fire near Dibble in McClain County.
  • Jumping Juniper Fire near Camargo in Dewey County

The FMAGs may help reimburse local governments, volunteer fire departments and other first responders for costs associated with responding to the fire. The authorization makes FEMA funding available to reimburse 75 percent of state, local and tribal government eligible firefighting costs for the designated fires. Fire departments and other agencies that responded to the fires above are advised to document all costs related to equipment and supplies (including fuel), labor costs, travel and per diem, temporary repairs of damage caused by firefighting activities, mobilization, and demobilization.

MASS CARE

Three evacuation shelters were opened for Camargo residents who evacuated earlier today:

  • Vici Community Center - 604 Main St, Vici, OK
  • Leedey Community Building - 520 N Main St, Leedey, OK
  • Sharon Fire Department – 102 S. Main St, Sharon, OK (Snacks and water available).

Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief provided meals for responders in Oakwood in Dewey County.

The Salvation Army provided meals, water, and snacks for responders in Bradley, OK

American Red Cross provided meals, water, and snacks for responders in Blanchard and Vici, OK.

Beaneighbor.org provides access to local support, including financial assistance, food pantries, medical care, and other free or reduced-cost help. Search for aid in your area at Beaneighbor.org.

STATE SUPPORT

Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) personnel have been in contact with local incident commanders and supporting resources requests throughout the day. OFS teams assisted with 17 fires today.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol provided traffic control for numerous fires throughout the day, including temporary road closures. Troopers also assisted with evacuations and provided situational awareness across the state for the State EOC and Oklahoma Forestry Services.

FIRE REPORTS

Caddo County Emergency Management the Buzzard Roost Fire near Cement burned 60-80 acres. An Oklahoma Forestry Services task force and an Oklahoma National Guard helicopter responded to the fire.

Comanche County Emergency Management reports two homes evacuated due to a fire near Sterling. No structures were destroyed.

Dewey County Emergency Management reports the Jumping Juniper Fire near Camargo. Residents in the town of Camargo was evacuated but has now been allowed to return to their homes. Blain County, Custer County, Ellis County, Roger Mills County, and Woodward County task forces responded along with personnel and trucks from Sharon and Mutual fire departments. An Oklahoma Forestry Services Task Force responded along with air support. Northwest Search and Rescue assisted with operations.

Town of Hominy reported a fire on the east side of Hominy resulted in the evacuation of one home. Hominy Fire Department and Hominy Ranchers Fire responded.

Dibble Fire Department reports the Dibble Creek Fire in McClain County was caused by an oil well flare. Dibble, Blanchard, and Washington fire departments were on scene. An Oklahoma Forestry Services task force assisted, and an Oklahoma National Guard Helicopter provided aerial firefighting support. A number of homes were evacuated in the Dibble Creek Road area.

Pottawatomie County Emergency Management reports the Cross Timbers Fire near Asher burned at least 100 acres. Pontotoc County task force responded along with Konawa Fire Department, numerous personnel and trucks from Lincoln County, and other departments. Oklahoma Forestry Services task force responded along with an Oklahoma National Guard Helicopter.

Rogers County Emergency Management reports the Green Fire near Chelsea received air support from Oklahoma National Guard.

An additional 56 wildfire and hotspot reports were received by the State Emergency Operations Center in the following counties: Adair, Atoka, Beckham, Blaine, Canadian, Carter, Cherokee, Coal, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Garvin, Grady, Haskell, Hughes, Johnston, Lincoln, McClain, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Pawnee, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha, Sequoyah, and Washington

POWER OUTAGES

Currently, there are approximately 900 outages due to wildfires or high winds.
