This toolkit was created for the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and its partners to promote #HeatSafety throughout the sweltering summer months and equip Oklahomans with the information they need to recognize, prevent and treat heat-related illnesses.

Monitor your health and take steps to beat the heat by dressing in lightweight clothing, taking breaks in the shade, drinking lots of water and scheduling outdoor activities in the early morning or late evening ⏰

Who's At Risk
Some are more susceptible to heat illnesses than others. If you don't fall into one of these categories, be sure to keep an eye out for these folks when the heat is intense. They should take extra precautions to stay safe!

Save a Life
Temperatures rise all too rapidly inside parked cars - even those in the shade! If you see a child alone in a car, act immediately and call 911❗Children in distress due to heat should be removed from the vehicle as quickly as possible and rapidly cooled 🌀
