SEVERE WEATHER IMPACTING STATE

The State Emergency Operations Center activated Thursday, April 23, due to severe weather risk Thursday through Sunday. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) is in contact with emergency managers across the state and coordinating with agencies and organizations including Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Oklahoma Forestry Services, Oklahoma Insurance Department, Oklahoma National Guard, National Weather Service, Tribal Nations, Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, and others.

RESIDENTS ASKED TO REPORT DAMAGES

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management is asking residents impacted by the storms to report damages to their home or business at damage.ok.gov. Reporting damage helps local and state emergency managers better coordinate response and recovery efforts and can help connect residents with resources. Residents can report damage to homes, businesses or agriculture through the online survey.

STATE AND LOCAL ASSISTANCE

Oklahoma Highway Patrol deployed the Emergency Response Team to Enid to assist with searching damaged residences.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Oklahoma Highway Patrol assisted with closing highways during the storms.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management sent personnel to Garfield County and Enid to support local emergency management and provide technical assistance.

Oklahoma Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is working with local churches and faith-based organizations to identify resources for impacted residents.

Numerous county and municipal personnel and other resources deployed to assist.

MASS CARE

An American Red Cross shelter remains open at Enid Chisolm Trail Expo Center at 111 W. Purdue Ave in Enid.

Beaneighbor.org provides access to local support, including financial assistance, food pantries, medical care, and other free or reduced-cost help. Search for aid in your area at Beaneighbor.org.

STORM REPORTS

In Garfield County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Emergency Response Team reported approximately 40 homes with some level of damage in Enid and Garfield County.

In Kay County, emergency managers report power outages and barns damaged in Blackwell and Braman. Newkirk experienced minor wind damage and localized road flooding.  

Pawnee County Emergency Management reports localized flood damage on HWY 18 north of 5500 Road and south of U.S. 412.

**Damage assessments, debris cleanup, and power restoration efforts are ongoing. Please avoid the impacted areas.

ROAD CLOSURES

Oklahoma Department of Transportation report northbound and southbound US-81 remain closed between Fox Drive and Wheat Capital Road due to downed power lines. 

POWER OUTAGES

Currently there are approximately 2,600 outages statewide. The majority of outages are in Garfield County.
