OEM will conduct Public Assistance Applicant Briefings October 26-30 for local governments and nonprofits in Cleveland, Osage, Nowata, and Washington counties that were affected by the July 4 storm which was recently approved for federal disaster assistance.
FEMA Public Assistance helps cities and towns, counties, Tribal Nations, state agencies, schools, and some nonprofits repair and rebuild infrastructure and perform emergency work following a disaster. Infrastructure can include utilities, public buildings, roads, schools, churches, and more.
Applicant Briefings kick off the disaster recovery process for local/state government entities and eligible private non-profits. The briefings give those affected an opportunity to learn about the Public Assistance process from beginning to end and allow a small group setting for question-and-answer sessions from State subject matter experts.
Who should attend: Local governments, tribal governments, state agencies, and eligible private nonprofit organizations seeking federal disaster recovery funding for the July 4th event. Representatives should include emergency management, city management, public works, and finance/procurement staff, and others.
What the Applicant Briefings will cover: FEMA Public Assistance program rules, eligible work and facility categories (Categories A–G), cost-share requirements, and how to document damages, application process.
