Drivers on US-62 in Muskogee should be aware of changes in the work zone beginning Monday. Westbound US-62 traffic will be moved to the newly completed bridge by late Monday. The contractor will then stripe the crossover areas and prepare traffic control devices for the eastbound traffic switch, which will occur by Tuesday afternoon.
The contractor plans to begin the demolition of the current eastbound US-62 bridge after the Thanksgiving holiday. Traffic will remain narrowed to one lane in each direction until the new eastbound bridge is complete.
The $74.7 million project began in September 2022 and will replace both the east and westbound bridges over the Arkansas River, as well as the bridges over 55th St. on the east side of the river. Work is expected to be completed in late 2025. The project was awarded by the Oklahoma Transportation Commission to Manhattan Road & Bridge Company.
