SH-123/Caney River bridge improvement project in Bartlesville to be discussed May 10

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting in Bartlesville on Tuesday, May 10 to discuss a proposed bridge improvement project on SH-123 over the Caney River.

The bridge was built in 1937 and is considered structurally deficient. It is currently load-posted with a 10-ton limit and handles more than 4,900 vehicles per day. This bridge and the dam under the bridge are eligible for listing on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

ODOT will provide preliminary information about the project and discuss proposed alternatives for the improvements, including possible impacts for the historic Caney River bridge. At this time, the project is still being developed and scheduled to go to bid in FFY 2018.

Comment forms will also be made available at the meeting and afterwards online, which will help with further development of the project plans.
