The Oklahoma City Police Department, in coordination with the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) and in partnership with Young Emerging Leaders (YEL), recently hosted the Summer Hoopfest—a dynamic community event aimed at youth in grades 5 through 12.
Held at the Scissortail Park basketball courts in downtown Oklahoma City, the event offered an afternoon of connection, activity, and celebration. Attendees enjoyed a variety of events including basketball games, a 3-point contest, yard games, free haircuts, music, and food—all in a vibrant, family-friendly environment.
More than just a summer celebration, Summer Hoopfest highlighted the strength and potential of youth while promoting positive relationships between young people, community leaders, and law enforcement.
Events like these demonstrate the power of partnership in action—bringing together agencies, organizations, and volunteers with a shared commitment to investing in the next generation and building safer, stronger communities.
OFBCI is proud to spotlight this kind of community-centered collaboration and applauds the ongoing efforts to uplift, encourage, and engage Oklahoma's youth.
