Responding to Tornado Damage in North Tulsa and Beggs

Wednesday, March 11, 2026

In the aftermath of severe storms that struck northeastern Oklahoma, state and local leaders came together to assess damage and support impacted communities. The Oklahoma Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) joined response efforts alongside key partners following a devastating tornado outbreak.

According to the National Weather Service, an EF-3 tornado touched down near Beggs on March 6, causing significant destruction to homes and schools and tragically resulting in loss of life. Communities across the region experienced widespread damage as families began the difficult process of recovery.

To survey the impact and coordinate response efforts, Director Bobek joined Annie Mack Vest of the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, Governor Kevin Stitt, and Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols to view the damage and meet with those working on the ground to assist affected residents.

In the days following the storm, OFBCI worked closely with the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and trusted community partners to help mobilize rapid response and relief for families in need. Faith-based and nonprofit organizations played a critical role in delivering immediate assistance, demonstrating the strength of Oklahoma’s collaborative disaster response network.

These efforts reflect the Oklahoma Standard—a long-standing tradition of neighbors stepping up to care for one another in times of crisis. Across impacted communities, volunteers, churches, nonprofits, and local leaders have come together in a spirit of “neighbors helping neighbors,” ensuring families know they are not facing recovery alone.

This response also highlights the partnership between OFBCI and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management—working together to better connect government resources with faith-based and community organizations during emergencies.

As communities continue to recover, OFBCI remains committed to supporting local partners who are bringing hope, help, and restoration to those affected by this tragic storm.
