Honored to Join the Jewish Federation of Greater OKC for the October 8 Documentary Viewing

The Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives had the privilege of representing Governor Kevin Stitt at the excerpt viewing of the documentary October 8, hosted by the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City in partnership with the Oklahoma Israel Exchange (OKIE).

The evening was a moving experience, featuring the filmmaker Wendy Sachs, along with a thoughtful panel discussion, heartfelt readings, and prayers that offered both reflection and hope. Together, participants honored the lives impacted by the tragic events of October 7, 2023, and reaffirmed a shared commitment to resilience, remembrance, and peace.

“In the last year, we’ve seen a troubling rise in anti-Semitic rhetoric and attacks across the nation and especially on our college campuses, but we’ve held the line in Oklahoma," Stitt said. "Oklahoma will always stand with the Jewish people and defend religious freedoms."

Events like this serve as powerful reminders of the strength found in community and the importance of standing together across faiths and backgrounds. They also highlight our collective responsibility to work toward a more just and hopeful world.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside Oklahoma’s Jewish community and our partners at OKIE in recognizing the significance of this moment.
