DOC Volunteer Training hosted by Victory Church - Tulsa

Monday, June 02, 2025

Victory Church Tulsa hosted the largest single volunteer training event in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Oklahoma Faith Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) bringing 110 passionate volunteers and staff together. This remarkable kickoff marks a powerful step forward in mobilizing faith communities to support DOC outreach efforts across the state. Through this initiative, local churches will begin hosting yard events inside correctional facilities, aimed at bringing messages of hope, faith, and restoration to incarcerated individuals. These events are set to launch in June, powered by this newly trained and energized group of volunteers.

The event featured key leadership, including OFBCI Director Brian Bobek and DOC Agency Chaplain & Volunteer Services Administrator Leo Brown, who led the training. Special thanks were extended to Governor Kevin Stitt and First Lady Sarah Stitt for their continued advocacy for faith-based programs and criminal justice reform. Pictured from the event were Pastors Paul, Sharon, and Pedro alongside Director Bobek, as well as Leo Brown who was a wealth of knowlege with his nearly 3 decades of work at DOC. OFBCI is excited to share this event symbolizing the growing unity between churches and the DOC in transforming lives behind bars.
