The Oklahoma Office of Faith-Based & Community Initiatives (OFBCI) recently joined the Oklahoma Human Services Child Welfare Director in Creek County for an important conversation with three local churches about the work of Child Welfare and opportunities for the faith community to come alongside children, families, and local Child Welfare staff.
The gathering was made possible through the partnership of the Oklahoma Assemblies of God (OKAG), which helped bring local churches and Child Welfare leaders together to better understand the needs in their community and explore practical ways to serve.
These local conversations are an important step toward strengthening relationships between churches and Child Welfare offices across Oklahoma. Rather than assuming what is needed, faith communities have an opportunity to listen, learn, and ask, “How can we help?”
OFBCI is grateful to OKAG for continuing to help build these connections and to the churches and Child Welfare leaders who are willing to come together to strengthen families and care for Oklahoma's children.
