Celebrating Recovery and Hope at the 2025 Freedom Gala
We were honored to attend the 2025 Freedom Gala on behalf of Governor Kevin Stitt. The event was an inspiring celebration of the transformative impact being made in the lives of individuals battling addictive behaviors — including those currently incarcerated who have applied to participate in recovery programs.
At the Gala, we had the privilege of connecting with leaders, including Leo Brown (DOC Agency Chaplain Administrator) and Matt Carroll (COO of Adult & Teen Challenge Oklahoma). Their presence, along with many others, underscored the collaborative commitment to supporting recovery efforts across Oklahoma.
Why Adult & Teen Challenge Matters
Adult & Teen Challenge of Oklahoma (ATC OK) provides long-term, faith-based residential recovery and discipleship programs for adults and adolescents struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
What sets ATC OK apart is its holistic, Christ-centered approach: programs are designed to restore not just physical health, but also emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Through a curriculum rooted in Biblical teaching, students engage in personal mentoring, group studies, work therapy, vocational training, and a supportive community that helps guide them toward a new life.
Programs typically span 12–18 months — offering residents the time, structure, and spiritual foundation to rebuild their lives, reestablish healthy habits, and grow into productive, purpose-driven members of society.
The Importance of Partnership
The 2025 Freedom Gala highlighted not only ATC OK’s work, but also the importance of communication and coordination between government, faith-based programs, and correctional systems. This collective effort helps ensure individuals impacted by addiction — even those currently incarcerated — have a viable pathway to recovery, dignity, and hope.
By supporting and amplifying programs like Adult & Teen Challenge, OFBCI continues to champion restorative opportunities that address addiction through faith, community, and long-term transformation.
