Governor Stitt Highlights Good Neighbor Day America, Encourages Oklahomans to Get Involved

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 14, 2026) – Governor Kevin Stitt recently highlighted an opportunity for Oklahomans to join a nationwide day of service on May 16, 2026. Organized as part of America 250’s national programming, Good Neighbor Day America is designed to inspire acts of kindness, service, and connection across communities in every state.

“Good Neighbor Day America is an opportunity to show the Oklahoma Standard in action. I encourage Oklahomans to step up, lend a hand, and show the nation what it looks like to be a neighbor,” said Governor Stitt.

“Good Neighbor Day America is a powerful reminder that being a good neighbor is more than a concept—it’s action.” said OFBCI Director Bobek.  “In Oklahoma, we’ve spent years connecting communities through our Be A Neighbor platform, and this is a moment to build on that and be part of a national movement. Churches and organizations across our state have a unique opportunity to be the hands and feet of service in their communities.”

Oklahoma’s engagement in this day of service is coordinated by CityServe Oklahoma, and there is still time to arrange and register a service project. Churches, nonprofits, and community organizations are encouraged to host a local outreach or service.

Events can be tailored to meet the unique needs of the community such as:

  • Partnering with local schools for campus improvement projects or student engagement activities
  • Hosting food or clothing distributions for families in need
  • Organizing community events at local parks, including family activities and clean-up efforts
  • Providing free services such as car washes or laundry days
  • Supporting vulnerable populations through outreach to the unhoused
  • Conducting donation drives for diapers, food banks, or essential items
  • Completing home makeovers for families in need

To register an event or to sign up as a volunteer, visit goodneighbordayamerica.com.

During registration as an event partner, participants should select “Yes” under association and enter “CityServe Oklahoma” to ensure their event is included on the statewide map.
