The written exam (Oklahoma POSSE) is now being offered through Oklahoma Career Tech. Test results are valid for one year.

Troopers serve a minimum one-year probation after Academy starts. After probation, Uniform Allowance increases to $150 per month.
^ Shift Differential Pay applies after successful completion of Field Trooper Training, following Academy Graduation.

LATERAL TROOPERS have 2 or more years of prior service as a full-time, certified peace officer and receive Step 2 Trooper Pay upon joining OHP.

Documents required during application process:

  • Passport-style, forward-facing, recent photograph
  • Valid, unexpired driver’s license
  • Social Security card
  • Certified state-issued birth certificate or Certificate of Naturalization/Citizenship
    (hospital-issued certificates will not be accepted)
  • Certificate of Degree of Indian or Alaska Native Blood (CDIB), if applicable
  • Official or unofficial transcripts from all accredited colleges/universities
  • Verification of current enrollment (if still completing required coursework)
  • Selective Service registration letter: https://www.sss.gov/verify/
  • DD-214 (honorable discharge), if applicable
  • Military Statement of Service (active duty), if applicable
  • Marriage license or divorce decree, if applicable
