Disability Caucus is a bicameral, bipartisan group that meets every other week during the legislative session. It serves as a collaborative forum for lawmakers to discuss and address issues impacting the disability community. The caucus reviews current disability-related legislation, identifies ongoing barriers to access and inclusion, and highlights successes and progress within the community. Through open dialogue and shared perspectives, the Disability Caucus works to promote informed policymaking and advance opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
"As a graduate of Partners in Policymaking, I understand how important it is that legislators hear our stories and was a deciding factor as to why I accepted the invitation to continue Disability Caucus. As a Co-Chair (of this Caucus), it is important to have leadership from both sides of the aisle and both sides of the Capitol."
The Disability Caucus is chaired by Senator JoAnna Dossett, Representative Ellyn Hefner, and Representative Nicole Miller and meets bi-weekly. Oklahomans are invited to attend in person or virtually. Email Chelsea Haecherl to be included on the Caucus email list.
