Oklahoma Recognizes Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month; Capitol Event Set for March 23, 2026
The Developmental Disabilities Council of Oklahoma (DDCO) is celebrating March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, honoring the leadership and contributions of Oklahomans with developmental disabilities. This year’s theme, “Together for a Stronger Tomorrow,” highlights how inclusion and collaboration strengthen communities across the state. The Council thanks Governor J. Kevin Stitt for officially proclaiming March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and recognizing that “Oklahoma is stronger when every person is welcomed, included, and recognized for their unique contributions.”
All Oklahomans are invited to a statewide gathering hosted by a coalition of self-advocates, advocacy organizations, and service providers at the Oklahoma State Capitol on Monday, March 23, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Self‑advocates, families, community partners, and policymakers will come together to share experiences, learn about resources, and raise awareness of policies that will improve services and systems for Oklahomans with disabilities.
“People with developmental disabilities are essential to Oklahoma’s future,” said Jenifer Randle, Executive Director. “This month is a chance to recognize their leadership and commit to building a stronger tomorrow together.”
