Impaired Driving Accountability Program (BOT IDAP)

Overview of the Program

Driver using ignition interlock device

BOT IDAP is an ignition interlock program now required for all DUI related arrests occurring on or after November 1, 2022.  The program is administered by the Board of Tests.  The program enrollment fee is $150.00 and an ignition interlock device (additional fees may apply) is mandatory*.  Pursuant to state law, enrollment into BOT IDAP authorizes Class D driving privileges to those who are eligible with Service Oklahoma.  (Applicants must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States if they expect to be granted driving privileges by Service Oklahoma.)

*A person granted a medical exemption will not be required to pay a program fee or install an ignition interlock device, but they will not be granted driving privileges by Service Oklahoma until they are eligible.

Program lengths are listed below and are not eligible to be served concurrently, which equates to one IDAP program length per offense:

(1)    no less than one hundred eighty (180) active ignition interlock days and program participation criteria as determined by the Board for first offense;

(2)    no less than three hundred sixty-five (365) active ignition interlock days and program participation criteria as determined by the Board for second offense;

(3)    no less than seven hundred thirty (730) active ignition interlock days and program participation criteria as determined by the Board for third and subsequent offense.

Participants will be required to demonstrate compliance and program participation as defined by the Board for the entire program period.

  • Participants who choose to park and drive an alternative vehicle without an ignition interlock equipped after enrolling in BOT IDAP will not be successful at completing the program.
  • Participants who choose to leave an ignition interlock device in permanent lockout will not be successful at completing the program.
  • Participants who fail to provide power to the ignition interlock device will not be successful at completing the program.

Eligibility for completion and issuance of a completion certificate from the Board must meet the following statutory conditions:

  1. Meet the active ignition interlock day requirements; and
  2. Meet program participation criteria requirements; and
  3. Have no interlock violations during the last ninety (90) active ignition interlock days of the program.
