GOVERNOR STITT SIGNS 8 BILLS INTO LAW

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 29, 2026) - Governor Kevin Stitt signed the following bills into law:

SB 1932

An Act relating to the Oklahoma Motor Carrier Safety and Hazardous Materials Transportation Act; authorizing certain representation in certain administrative hearing; providing for codification; and providing an effective date. 

SB 1936

An Act relating to crimes and punishments; amending Section 14, Chapter 366, O.S.L. 2024 (21 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 20N), which relates to Class D1 offenses; adding certain offense; updating statutory references; amending 21 O.S. 2021, Section 264, which relates to false impersonation of peace officers; modifying elements of certain offense; creating felony offenses and providing penalties; amending 21 O.S. 2021, Section 1738, as amended by Section 1, Chapter 133, O.S.L. 2023 (21 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 1738), which relates to seizure and forfeiture proceedings; broadening scope of allowable seizure; updating statutory language; and providing an effective date.

An Act relating to state government; amending 74 O.S. 2021, Section 840-2.18, as last amended by Section 1, Chapter 18, 1st Extraordinary Session, O.S.L. 2023 (74 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 840-2.18), which relates to longevity pay; increasing longevity amounts for certain state employees; updating statutory language; updating statutory references; providing an effective date; and declaring an emergency.

An Act relating to probate procedure; amending 58 O.S. 2021, Section 245, which relates to petitions for summary administration; and increasing value of estate for summary administration. 

HB 3260

An Act relating to professions and occupations; amending 59 O.S. 2021, Section 396.5b, which relates to funeral licensing continuing education courses; allowing the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association to approve continuing education credits; and providing an effective date. 

HB 3742

An Act relating to criminal procedure; creating the Due Process Protection Act of 2026; amending 22 O.S. 2021, Section 258, as amended by Section 2, Chapter 269, O.S.L. 2022 (22 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 258), which relates to preliminary examinations and proceedings; requiring the disclosure of certain information to the defense; providing construing provision; authorizing the court to set disclosure deadline under certain circumstances; amending 22 O.S. 2021, Section 2002, as amended by Section 2, Chapter 327, O.S.L. 2025 (22 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 2002), which relates to the Oklahoma Criminal Discovery Code; directing the state to disclose certain evidence prior to the initial appearance of defendants; requiring the disclosure of evidence favorable to the defendant; requiring disclosure despite its form; declaring the ongoing duty to disclose information; increasing time limitation for introducing testimony from informants and codefendants; updating informant references; modifying scope of certain defined term; clarifying disclosure duties of defendants; establishing time limitation for completing discovery issues; providing an exception to certain witnesses; providing for noncodification; and providing an effective date.

An Act relating to the Elevator Safety Act; amending 59 O.S. 2021, Section 3023.4, which relates to enforcing the Elevator Safety Act; prohibiting retroactive application without safety exemption; and providing an effective date.

An Act relating to probate procedure; amending 58 O.S. 2021, Section 246, as amended by Section 1, Chapter 114, O.S.L. 2025 (58 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 246), which relates to notice for petition for summary administration; removing the publication requirement for certain notices and allowing publication of a combined notice; providing publication timeline for combined notice; and providing an effective date.
