Governor Stitt Congratulates Governor-elect Mike Mazzei, Looks Ahead to Oklahoma’s Next Chapter
OKLAHOMA CITY (November 4, 2026) - Governor Kevin Stitt celebrated Governor-elect Mike Mazzei’s victory as an opportunity to build on Oklahoma’s momentum.
“Congratulations to my friend Mike Mazzei on being elected the 29th Governor of Oklahoma,” said Governor Stitt. “Mike is a businessman who understands that every dollar the government spends belongs to the taxpayer. Electing business leaders back-to-back is how we build on Oklahoma's incredible momentum from the past eight years.”
Governor-elect Mazzei inherits a stronger Oklahoma and a state government oriented toward efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
Over the past eight years, Oklahoma has:
• Increased annual state funding for public education from $2.91 billion to $4.2 billion.
• Cut $1.6 billion in taxes so Oklahomans keep more of their paychecks.
• Built state savings projected to reach approximately $4.5 billion in fiscal year 2027, up from $451.6 million in fiscal year 2019.
• Cut the state aircraft fleet from 17 planes to five and reduced its vehicle fleet by more than 1,500.
• Reduced the developmental disability services waiting list by nearly 66% and shortened the reported wait from 13 years to approximately 13-14 months.
• Reduced the number of state employees.
“Over the last eight years, I’ve pushed state agencies and the Legislature to keep budgets flat and make government more efficient. All the while, we’ve delivered better results for taxpayers. We’re handing the next administration a strong foundation, and I’m excited to see Mike build on it. This is about leaving Oklahoma better than we found it and keeping our foot on the gas,” said Governor Stitt.
