OKLAHOMA CITY (February 16, 2026) - Today, Governor Kevin Stitt joined state dignitaries and community leaders at the Oklahoma History Center to officially launch OK250, a statewide initiative commemorating 250 years since America’s founding.
The kickoff event, held on Presidents’ Day, celebrated Oklahoma’s pioneering spirit and its role in the nation’s story. The program featured remarks from Governor Stitt, Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell, Senate Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton, House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, and Superintendent Lindel Fields.
“Oklahoma proudly joins the nation in commemorating this historic milestone,” said Governor Stitt. “From before statehood and still today, Oklahomans have led with grit, determination, and faith in a better tomorrow. That promise is what OK250 is all about.”
The Governor highlighted OK250’s guiding values to educate, engage, and unite Oklahomans through statewide programming, public events, and educational initiatives.
“Oklahoma has always been a place where hard work, faith, and freedom turn dreams into reality. We are proud to show the nation why our state remains the purest expression of the American Dream,” said Stitt.
Organized by the Oklahoma Semiquincentennial Commission, OK250 will feature yearlong programming across the state, emphasizing history, culture, and civic pride leading up to July 4, 2026.
