Governor Stitt Celebrates National School Choice Week and Directs Establishment of Oklahoma School Choice Hub

Wednesday, January 28, 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY (January 27, 2026) - As part of National School Choice Week, Governor Kevin Stitt signed an executive order to establish the Oklahoma School Choice Hub within 90 days. This one-stop digital portal will support policymakers in developing and evaluating education policy while assisting families as they determine the best possible learning environment for their children.

“Every Oklahoma child deserves access to the best education possible, no matter their zip code or family income,” said Governor Stitt. “That belief drove us to pass the best education freedom plan in the country. I want to make sure every Oklahoma family can take advantage of that freedom. This executive order directs our Secretary of Education to work with partners to launch a school choice hub to empower Oklahoma families. This will increase our understanding of available learning environments for families and inform policymakers. Building on our Parental Choice Tax Credit Act and Oklahoma’s opt-in to the federal income tax credit, this puts our state in a top 10 position, keeping families in the driver’s seat of their child’s education.”

Governor Stitt has championed education freedom, leading the state to be one of the first in the nation to opt into federal school choice tax incentives. He has praised President Donald Trump for his commitment to school choice in the United States. Initiatives like “Expanding Educational Freedom and Opportunity for Families” and the federal tax credit established by the One Big Beautiful Bill build on Oklahoma’s success and provide even more opportunities for Oklahoma’s families.

Coinciding with National School Choice Week’s annual celebration of parental empowerment, this action builds on Oklahoma’s leadership in education innovation, including the promotion of private and charter schools, Open Transfer, the Parental Choice Tax Credit, and work-based learning.
