Governor Kevin Stitt celebrated the successful launch of SoonerSelect, Oklahoma's new comprehensive health care delivery system.
"This has been a day in the making for years, and I'm excited for Oklahomans to benefit from all that SoonerSelect has to offer," said Governor Stitt. "We're putting Oklahomans' health at the top of the priority list. With new incentives and offers, including memberships to local gyms and preventative care, thousands of Oklahomans will see firsthand our renewed commitment to improving health outcomes, while saving their tax dollars."
The Oklahoma Health Care Authority incorporated the goals established by Governor Stitt and the state Legislature into the Quality Strategy. The Quality Strategy outlines the mechanisms that OHCA used to guide the SoonerSelect implementation:
- Improve the health of Oklahoma Medicaid members and the health of Oklahoma communities and the State as a whole;
- Improve care delivery through a provider-led model with emphasis on access to high-quality, person-centered, and coordinated care;
- Improve member experience;
- Improve provider experience; and
- Improve financial sustainability of the Oklahoma Medicaid Program.
"This program supports some of Oklahoma’s most vulnerable populations. With SoonerSelect, there is real opportunity to improve the lives of the Oklahoma children and families who rely on Medicaid for their physical and behavioral health care needs," said Dr. Corey Finch, Secretary of Health and Mental Health. "SoonerSelect will truly put Oklahoma on a trajectory toward a happier, healthier state."
Beginning yesterday, April 1, 2024, members can now begin using their new coverage and benefits that promote health and wellness both inside and outside of the doctor's office. All health plans will provide the same health care services offered by SoonerCare, but each plan offers extra value benefits to improve health outcomes for members, including:
- Monetary incentives for attending well-child and annual primary care visits.
- Enhanced vision services for adults, such as eye exams and funds for contacts or eyeglasses.
- Home-based asthma interventions such as deep cleaning carpet and hypoallergenic bedding.
- Nutrition support including meals or money to address food insecurity.
- Health weight incentives including memberships to local community organizations and gyms.
"SoonerSelect changes the way many Oklahomans think about health care," said Ellen Buettner, Chief Executive Officer of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. "With access to value-add benefits and improved care coordination, members are empowered to take control of their own health and wellness. OHCA will promote the highest standard in health care delivery through SoonerSelect. I am excited about the positive effect this will have on the health of our state and change the way future generations will use SoonerCare."
