Thursday, April 04, 2024

Today, Governor Kevin Stitt appointed Oklahoma businesswoman, conservationist and rancher Susan Bergen to the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges.

"Susan has incredible experience within Oklahoma's agricultural and business community, which makes her a great choice to be a regent on the board," said Governor Stitt. "I'm grateful to Susan for stepping up, and I look forward to seeing how her business acumen will uplift students across Oklahoma."

Susan Bergen serves as the chief executive officer of a multi-generational, family-owned company. Her responsibilities include financial and operational oversight, and she leads a diverse portfolio of businesses spanning agriculture, energy, land management, investments, and restaurants. A student and practitioner of regenerative agriculture, she regularly collaborates with scientists across the state and country in studying soil health. Recently, her family’s 22,000 acre ranch earned the 2023 Oklahoma Wildlife Department Conversation Award for its regenerative grass-fed operation.

"I'm honored to accept this appointment from Governor Stitt," said Bergen. "These colleges have an immense impact on our state. I look forward to helping shape the future of education, fostering innovation and ensuring that generations to come benefit from the same opportunities that enriched the lives of countless others."

Bergen currently serves on the boards of the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, Loveworks Leadership and OKIE (Oklahoma Israel Exchange). Additionally, she actively supports the development of community gardens around the Oklahoma City area, in cooperation with the OKC SHINE community service program.

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Bergen has lived in Oklahoma for the last four decades.

She lives in Norman with her husband, Floyd, and enjoys spending time with her adult children and their families, including watching her granddaughter compete in barrel racing and supporting her grandson as he works his way to becoming an Eagle Scout.
