Governor Stitt Announces Departure of Kevin Corbett as CEO of OHCA, Thanks Him for His Service
Today Governor Kevin Stitt expressed his appreciation for the service of Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) CEO Kevin Corbett following his resignation.
"I extend my deepest gratitude to Kevin for his service to our state and to the Oklahoma Health Care Authority," said Governor Stitt. "He's been a true leader in our healthcare system and has worked tirelessly to improve the health and well-being of all Oklahomans. I'm grateful for his incredible contributions and wish him all the best in the future."
First appointed in 2020 as Secretary of Health and Mental Health, Mr. Corbett most notably initiated the state's implementation of SoonerSelect after Governor Stitt signed a series of healthcare delivery system reform bills. SoonerSelect allows the OHCA to better incentivize health outcomes while maintaining oversight and authority over Oklahoma's Medicaid program. Under Mr. Corbett's leadership, the OHCA expanded Medicaid benefits to more than 300,000 low-income adults.
In his letter of resignation, Corbett wrote, in part: "I leave my position enriched personally, professionally, and spiritually and I have you to thank. I am also proud of the accomplishments we have achieved to improve the health of our most vulnerable Oklahomans and am confident that those that follow will continue to carry the torch in making Oklahoma a Top Ten state."
During his tenure, Mr. Corbett was credited for increasing coverage for opioid treatment programs, the implementation of the health information exchange, increasing private duty nursing rates, and for leading the governor's Helping Every Life and Parent (H.E.L.P.) Task Force. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Corbett oversaw a rapid expansion of telehealth services and enacted several new flexibility options so members could continue receiving services.
Corbett's resignation is effective July 31, 2023 or until his successor is appointed. Corbett's letter of resignation can be read in full here.
