Wednesday, December 07, 2022

Governor Kevin Stitt ordered all American and Oklahoman flags to be lowered to half-staff today to honor the thousands of American sailors, soldiers, and civilians who died on December 7, 1941, as a result of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

“On this poignant 81st anniversary of that fateful day, Oklahomans remember anew the terrible loss of life, the resultant courage of America’s brave crewmen and soldiers, and the resiliency of the American spirit,” said Governor Stitt.

The attack destroyed more than 300 airplanes and nearly 20 ships, including USS Oklahoma which was pierced by torpedoes with 400 sailors aboard.
