STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR STITT REGARDING OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS ANNOUNCEMENT

Wednesday, October 28, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY (October 28, 2020) – Governor Kevin Stitt issued the following statement today in response to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections making changes to inmate earned credit programs:

“I appreciate the strong response of Director Scott Crow, who has taken the challenge to review his state agency operations and ensure we are providing Oklahomans with accountability, transparency and results seriously. Once Director Crow took over, he found a problem in the system that had gone unnoticed for a decade and immediately consulted the Attorney General to quickly address the issue.

I promised Oklahomans I would bring a fresh set of eyes to all areas of state government, and this proves the process is working. Director Crow’s actions are a testament to what can happen when we get the right leaders in place to turn over every rock and ensure our state government is operating for the betterment of all 4 million Oklahomans.” – Governor Kevin Stitt
