Gov. Stitt Discusses Importance of Reopening Schools with Stillwater Mother

Wednesday, December 16, 2020

“We are trading one crisis for another.”

OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 16, 2020) – After hearing from many concerned parents, students and teachers, Governor Kevin Stitt discussed the critical importance of reopening schools with Stillwater resident and school parent Taurean DuHart.

"Our kids aren't getting the education that we feel they are entitled to, that our tax dollars pay for," said DuHart. "We are trading one crisis for another."

"We want our kids back in school," said Gov. Stitt, whose administration secured PPE for school districts earlier this year. “We know, and the science says, COVID is not being spread in the schools. CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield has said schools are one of the safest places kids can be.”

Stitt will also prioritize vaccinations for teachers to keep them safe and get kids back in the classroom.
