Commendation or Proclamation Request
Before filling out this request form, please take a moment to read through the following policies to ensure that your request satisfies our commendation and proclamation requirements.
Proclamations
- Requests must be made 30 days in advance to allow proper time for approval and processing.
- Proclamation documents are considered public service documents and are strictly honorary, not legally binding.
- The Governor’s Office reserves the right to decline any and all proclamation requests.
- The issuance of a proclamation does not constitute an endorsement by the Governor.
- No proclamations may be used as part of an advertisement or commercial promotion without expressed permission from the Governor’s Office.
- Any draft language provided may be edited or rewritten at the discretion of the Governor’s Office.
- Proclamations must be requested or endorsed by an Oklahoma citizen. Out-of-state requests will be declined.
- Proclamations recognize a day, week, month, or year.
- A proclamation may not be individualized or specialized. Proclamations are not issued in honor of individual people, unless specifically directed by the Governor.
- Requests must not duplicate other requests. Requests that are similar to previously issued proclamations will be declined.
- Proclamations are not issued to honor a specific organization or group, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, conferences, or graduations. Commendations are available upon request for these types of events.
Commendations

- The issuance of a commendation does not constitute an endorsement by the Governor.
- Any draft language provided may be edited or rewritten at the discretion of the Governor’s Office.
- Commendations are issued only to Oklahoma residents.
- The honoree must have made a direct contribution to Oklahoma.
- The nominee may not be the same as the nominator.
- The Governor’s Office reserves the right to rescind a commendation if false or misleading information is provided in the nomination application.

Data may only be shared with third parties when it is necessary to fulfill a constituent request, compelled by court order, or otherwise required by law.
