How Do I Become an Oklahoma Department of Corrections Volunteer? (PDF HANDOUT)
Three Easy Steps:
- If you are signing up to serve with an existing volunteer group or program, you can skip to step two. Otherwise, decide where you wish to serve and contact that facility’s Chaplain/Volunteer Coordinator. They will provide you with information regarding their needs and opportunities. Here is a link to our webpage with more information about our facilities: https://oklahoma.gov/doc/facilities.html. Once a volunteer activity, time and location are determined, the Chaplain/Volunteer Coordinator will ensure that activity is listed in our volunteer data system.
- Register/Sign up online for the volunteer activity using this link: https://ec.samaritan.com/custom/1481/volunteer_home.
- Once your registration/application is approved, you will be scheduled for the next available volunteer training session in your area. Upon completing the volunteer training, you will be added to the agency’s Master Volunteer List. The facility Chaplain/Volunteer Coordinator will place you with the volunteer activity at their facility and you can begin serving.
