ODOC statement about transport bus accident

LEXINGTON, Okla. – Today, an ODOC transport bus was involved in an accident with a personal vehicle east of Lexington on Hwy 39. 

Three officers and 14 inmates were on board at the time of the accident. The bus driver and two inmates sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening and were transported by ambulance to the hospital. At this time, the officer and one inmate are in stable condition at the hospital. One inmate has since returned to the facility. ODOC wishes them a full and speedy recovery. The other 12 inmates were transported back to the Lexington Assessment and Reception Center.

We appreciate the prompt assistance provided at the scene by the Lexington, Purcell and Cleveland County first responders. We also want to thank our correctional officers for their quick actions, which maintained inmate safety and ensured necessary medical care for all involved. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
