Escaped Inmate Apprehended After Multi-Agency Search

Wednesday, March 31, 2021

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) announced today an inmate who walked away from Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester has been apprehended.

Earlier today, Preston Whittington was taken into custody without incident by the Wichita Falls Police Department March 30.

ODOC would like to thank all the law enforcement agencies involved in the search and apprehension of Whittington, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the McAlester Police Department, the Wichita Falls Police Department, and the Sheriffs of Pittsburgh, Murray, and Garvin counties.

Whittington is serving time for convictions on multiple charges--including kidnapping and burglary--and could face additional charges related to this incident.
