OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Each year, The Oklahoma Correctional Employee Memorial Foundation hosts a poignant memorial service to honor and preserve the memories of correctional employees who have given their lives serving the citizens of Oklahoma.
Due to the Covid pandemic, the public ceremony was cancelled. But the Department of Corrections Honor Guard and Foundation held a special ceremony to commemorate the day.
The names of each employee were read aloud, followed a single toll of the bell.
OCEMF is a non-profit organization that also provides for children and families of the fallen through scholarships, grants and gifts.
The memorial was dedicated on July 13th, 2013 on the grounds of the ODOC administration building at 3400 N. Martin Luther King Avenue.
