Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, ODOC has partnered with Securus Technologies to provide inmates two free phone calls each week while visitation was suspended. With visitation reopening, these free phone calls will continue until April 15. After April 15, phone calls will still be permitted, subject to standard rates and policies.

Correctional Core Services Continue During Pandemic

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) has increased inmate quarantines across multiple facilities to prevent further spread of COVID-19. In doing so, facility staff has stepped up to replace inmates assigned to kitchen duty, ensuring every inmate is fed in a timely manner. Staff members are also providing other core services directly to quarantined and isolated inmates, such as laundry, medication, and medical services.

ODOC tests inmates presenting with symptoms, transporting to the hospital, or preparing for release. Upon receiving a positive test result, staff initiates standard protocols to contact trace, quarantine, and isolate exposed inmates. Regardless of such placement, every inmate receives all core services daily while staff follows best practices from the Centers for Disease Control and the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

ODOC leadership monitors staffing levels at all facilities on a daily basis and makes adjustments as needed.
