Tuesday, September 10, 2019

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Department of Corrections Cpl. Caleea Broadus has been identified as the victim in a domestic violence-related murder Monday in Oklahoma City. Her husband, who was a suspect in her death, later died in an exchange of gunfire with Oklahoma City police.

Broadus had been with since May 30.

“Cpl. Broadus had a bright future in corrections,” ODOC Interim-Director Scott Crow said. “After less than a year with our agency, she had already promoted from CO to corporal last May.

ODOC support staff will be at Oklahoma City Community Corrections Center to assist the men and women who worked with Broadus in coping with her death.

“Ms. Broadus was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served her country and the people of Oklahoma honorably,” Crow said.

“She was a dedicated, loyal team member to her coworkers. Whenever the facility needed someone to pick up a shift, she would volunteer – no matter the time or day.”

OKCCC staff said she was always pleasant to work with and had a beautiful smile.

ODOC human resources staff have been in touch with Broadus’ family to help them with her death benefits as an agency employee.
