Teacher of the Year award goes to Eddie Warrior Correctional Center’s Sally Stone

Thursday, November 22, 2018

This year’s award goes to Eddie Warrior Correctional Center’s Sally Stone.

Ms. Stone began her career teaching special education in Muskogee Public Schools in 1974. She quickly earned her peers’ respect, working hard to instruct emotionally disturbed children. She retired from M-P-S in 2004, and came to D-O-C shortly afterward.

Since then, her classes at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center have been in high demand. Teaching dozens of students a day in several classes, she is always organized and her students attentive. Another sign of success – the graduation rate in her classes are among the highest.

Her graduation ceremonies are a sight to see. Ms. Stone works hard to make the day special for graduates and their families. She helps organize decorations, refreshments and photographs for each graduate, and can be seen leading the parade of graduates proudly across campus afterward.
